How anxiety and depression made me a highly productive person
My path to happiness
Some decisions in life come from a happy event, but in general, life-changing stories comes from a tragic or shocking event. I belong to the second category as experiencing the death of a close one changed my perspective in life. I had to battle with mental illness fo a couple of years and I never thought that it will end up being my biggest drive.
Here´s the story of how I did it.
The Beginning:
Let me take you back 3 years ago. I just finished another degree and wanted to experience a change in my life. I moved to Germany to learn the language and maybe finish another master's degree if I felt like it. 6 months in, I woke up to more than 30 voicemails and what was in them changed my perspective on life: my father died due to a stupid medical error. As he was my confidant and best friend, I turned to what I knew worked the best for me: partying and getting wasted. This combined with the state of mind I was in deep-dived me into a spiral of negative thoughts and habits.
After more than a year of self-sabotage and feeling down, I decided to fight back as I always based my life around happiness. I was not super pumped to go consult a therapist but I did it anyway. He ended up prescribing some meds…
